  26. There is no general archive of rec.games.frp postings. However, several
  27. people maintain public-access archives of interesting and/or generally
  28. useful material as a courtesy to their fellow netters. In addition to
  29. archived articles, some of these archive sites offer articles which are
  30. never posted to rec.games.frp. If you want to find these articles you
  31. will have to use an archive server of some sort.

  62. Anonymous FTP archives can be accessed from Unix machines on the
  63. Internet by typing ftp <address>, where <address> is either an Internet
  64. address or a routing number. At the "Name:" prompt, type "anonymous"; at
  65. the "Password:" prompt, type your userid or "guest" (or something
  66. equally thoughtful). For further information on ftp, check the
  67. documentation at your site or consult a local guru.

  69. Users at non-Internet sites (especially those on BITNET/Netnorth/EARN)
  70. may want to try the BITNET FTP server at Princeton. To obtain directions
  71. on the use of the server, send a mail file containing the line

  166.                 to be placed on the archive not violate any copyright 
  167.                 restrictions or other distribution laws and agreements.

  169.                 where they will be moved to an appropriate place in the 
  170.                 archive as soon as possible.  Also, it might be a good 
  171.                 idea to drop a note to ftp-maint@MPGN.COM explaining what 
  172.                 the file contains.

  174.                 Note that files placed in the "/incoming" directory are not 
  175.                 immediately available for retrieval.  This is for three 
  176.                 reasons:  1) To scan for inappropriate content or viruses; 
  177.                 2) To prevent the use of our disk space as a rendezvous for 
  178.                 illicit material and 3) To watch for copyrighted material.

  180.                 While MPG-Net will attempt to scan binaries for viruses, they 
  181.                 are by no means guaranteed to be virus free.  You should, for 
  182.                 your safety, assume that the files have not been checked for
  183.                 the presence of viruses.
